This semester-long project was created in my Ethics of a Designer in a Global Economy course, requiring intense design research to ensure an impactful result. Initially, I aimed to assist homeless individuals by utilizing AI/technology. Some initiatives have already addressed this, such as developing AI capable of predicting homelessness and linking those in need with caregivers. Other designers have envisioned an on-demand chatbot to connect homeless individuals with resources.

After much contemplation, I decided to pursue a more conventional approach with significant real-world applicability. I designed a campaign to repeal the Costa-Hawkins Rent Control Act of 1995, a law that restricts rent and vacancy control, as it will appear on the California ballot in 2024. My focus shifted to housing insecurity in Los Angeles, with my target audience being struggling tenants and those capable of donating to an emergency rent fund.
