The bulk of my work presented in this exhibition is drawn from my thesis project Step on Me, wherein I approach my relationship to fashion/portrait photography, a medium I rarely work in, but one that seems inevitable, or even required, for mainstream success within the world of fine art photography. I am interested in fashion photography’s intrinsic relationship with advertising, and the limitations that are imposed on creative endeavors when marketing a product takes center stage. What if those limitations were discarded? What would the landscape of fashion photography look like? The three final works in this portfolio are drawn from three of my other projects; Maybe You Should Expect Less From Me, Rate Your Pain, and Flower Shops & Phone Booths. Within these projects I have analyzed relationships, pop-culture, and stress, among other topics.
