Kristina Beligratis is an artist and designer. Right now she is exploring new ideas and methods in her practice to find new ways of working and designing. Her research question for this capstone is “How can we use the power of storytelling to promote marine conservation?” Her project focuses on the Southern Resident Community of orcas in the Pacific Northwest, and utilizes research made available by The Whale Museum in Friday Harbor, Washington. The goal of the project is to get people invested in the conservation of the Southern Resident orcas by following the story of one of that community’s most iconic whales, J-2 “Granny”.
