My work communicates ideas and personal stories based on my family, my fears, and the environment of my upbringing. Leaving home to live and study in another country made me reflect on things I had lived before. I explore the mysteries and memories of my experiences as a new generation of women who grew up in Beijing, and reflect on the similarities and differences between women of my family to highlight the shackles of women’s minds and bodies, and the anxiety and vicious competition that I experienced in my family and society under social pressure. Sculpture, installation, and painting allow me to experiment with building materials, render colors, and display my works visually. Being specifically related to my own experiences while showing my stories and ideas, working in three dimensions allows me to build the atmosphere for the viewers, giving them a sense of going through this.
