More often than not within my college experience, I’ve found myself struggling under the workload of art classes. The work I create for classes is work that I’m proud of, but is never perfectly representational of myself. It is created for, at the end of the day, a grade. I found my true creative outlet on my iPad, drawing in my downtime in between homework assignments. I experiment with lighting, shading techniques, artistic styles, and brush texture. While there is stigmatization surrounding comic-esque artwork classifying within the wider art world, as much of it falls outside of the normal conventions and lies on the internet, it is truly what I enjoy to create. Art can be classified as the expression of human imagination and creativity. For myself, my ability to express my true feelings is through figurative art, character creation, and comics that I have worked on throughout my time at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.
