Blake Trendel is an American painter, photographer, and designer based in Chicago, IL. His work explores the relationships between graffiti, abstraction, and his experiences growing up in Chicago. His upbringing as an only child in a vibrant city with a love for street art shaped his personality and style as a fine artist. By experimenting with color combinations and shape formations he aims to create unique and dynamic works of art while also addressing contemporary socio-political issues such as corruption, racism, and homelessness. Much of his work is influenced by artists such as Wassily Kandinsky and Kazimir Malevich. His most recent work “Pigeon Perspective”, is a triptych acrylic painting that aims to abstract the movement and architecture of a city always in motion. Inspired by the shapes and colors of downtown Chicago, this work is a bird’s-eye view of skyscrapers, bustling city streets, Lake Michigan, and famous landmarks such as Navy Pier. This work was completed within the span of a year and features many of Blake’s trademarked styles and symbols throughout it.
