I used digital matte painting to investigate the modern nature-inspired buildings, Marina City Towers in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to research on architecture, I investigated how nature can reclaim urban space once dominated by people. Just as humans have destroyed much of the natural world to erect buildings while maintaining space to preserve nature, my project explores the possibility that one day nature will take back the cities while leaving some of humankind’s more naturally accommodating creations intact. My final product depicts a future in which nature has reclaimed urban architecture while co-existing with a structure that was influenced by natural design.
