The stories we tell ourselves have a tremendous impact on how we approach our world. My work for the last four years has been in researching and crafting stories primarily through writing, illustration, and painting. Within my work, I am interested in creating narratives, allegories, and characters drawing inspiration from both personal experiences and nostalgia. I want my practice to examine how humans have historically told stories and have been shaped by the narratives we’ve inherited. The stories that I grew up with have stuck with me and shaped me. My hope is that my own art and illustrations would spark the same simple joys, creating a positive impact on the viewer, as well as serve as a space to be critical about those stories, identifying systemic flaws, and encouraging the practice of challenging our own perspectives constantly.
