Julia Morrison is an artist and director from Chicago. She explores connection and consciousness through video, performance, music, animation, dance, and painting. As a performer and director of multidisciplinary performances, she facilitates collaborations between the living and nonliving world. Her current work is interested in new materialism, creating spaces for imaginative collaboration, and working towards ecocentric futures. By leading participatory works that exist outside of the gallery and beyond the screen, her work aims to unite people through building platforms that highlight stories of underrepresented voices. She creates work to encourage reparative expression and unity beyond barriers, whether they be barriers of language, difference in species, in political ideology, or simply innie or outies. Belly buttons of course.
