I used the medium of animation and storytelling to investigate the inner emotions and representation of queer people in media, specifically non-binary individuals. I chose this medium because of the importance and lack of representation within the world of mainstream media. My process involved talking to non-binary people, as well as myself, about how they experienced coming to terms with their gender and how it effected their mental image of themselves. In my final product I focus on the ways that people choose to react to their gender and how it affects their mental state. The beast in my project represents the negative connotations of being non-binary one might face when coming to terms with themselves.
