Painting

The BFA program in Painting is a vibrant and diverse program of study that emphasizes the development of each student's intellectual and artistic goals and vision. We are dedicated to preparing you to participate in the range of practices, discourses, and professions surrounding contemporary art by working with you to develop your critical thinking skills and understanding of visual culture as well as your own studio practice.

At the sophomore level, you will receive rigorous training in basic skills and topics, including drawing, painting and methods for developing your own thoughts and ideas in your studio, as well as issues in recent and contemporary art and visual culture. At the advanced levels, you will engage in individual and group critiques with peers and professors in a studio community designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and your development as an individual artist.
