Ceramics

The primary goal of the Ceramics program is to provide you with the instruction, information, and facilities that allow for rapid personal, intellectual, and skill-based development that prepares you for success as a ceramic artist. The development of personal ideas, risk-taking activities, and honest self-critical abilities is the basis of the program.

The emphasis within the areas of concentration is on the development of individual creative capabilities, critical perceptions, and the mastery of comprehensive technical skills. In conjunction with this individual area of emphasis, students gain experience in other media.

Somewhat traditional styles of ceramics will determine the initial introduction to the curriculum, and the advanced courses will emphasize sculptural forms the strength of the specialization. The curriculum emphasizes professional training for the development of the self-sustaining studio artist, the potential graduate candidate, and the teacher of Ceramics.
